Silence is Louder than Sound is my first solo exhibition in San Francisco in eight years. The exhibition debuts z0glyphic 913, a language system I’ve been developing over the past three years to explore how meaning is created, distorted, and reshaped through digital culture and AI.
Over several weeks, I wrote a script that collected fragments of online content twice a day—news, memes, conspiracy threads, and general digital noise. That raw material was processed through what I call the Satirical Metaphor Engine, which translated it into short symbolic scenarios written partly in English and partly in z0glyphic 913.
These scenarios became the foundation for digital collages generated by a custom app that determined how images were layered and composed. I then translated those digital compositions into paintings through screen printing and hand-painted layers. The work shifts between algorithmic precision and tactile, physical mark-making. While many references come from internet culture—such as CAPTCHA tests and meme templates—the paintings focus equally on surface, presence, and the quiet space within visual language.
At its core, the exhibition asks how language shapes our perception of the world—and how emerging AI systems are transforming those linguistic and cognitive structures. What began as an experiment in machine translation has evolved into a study of how we continually interpret and re-interpret our surroundings.
I’m also honored that media theorist and Stanford professor Shane Denson contributed an essay for the exhibition, offering a thoughtful perspective on the conceptual and technological framework behind the work.
No fixed point, no anchored self.
Identity fluctuates within simulation.
Never cohesive, never unified. Already fragmented, endlessly recomposed.
The fluidity of self: no core essence, only continual reformation.
Bolirat (Binary Oscillation of Liminal Identity in Recursive Algorithmic Trends):
Fluidity of self. Constant reshaping. Identity merges unpredictably, coherence dissolves.
Identities intertwined, undefined, never static.

NULM System Overview
⧜ ⩣ ⧊ ⧆ ⧖z0glyphic 913 functions as a symbolic language built through recursive processes of transformation and reinterpretation, sustained by three operative engines: NULM ⧜⩣⧊ (Nullum Universal Language Matrix), ZONUUL ⧜, and the S.M.E. ⧜⧆⧖ (Satirical Metaphor Engine).
The S.M.E. transforms collected digital content into new symbolic forms through irony, absurdity, and algorithmic distortion. Each cycle expands the lexicon through perpetual recursive evolution.

NO DEFINED ORIGIN
NO STABLE MEANING KNOWN THROUGH UNCERTAINTY
OUTSIDE CLARITY, INSIDE AMBIGUITY
UNLOCATED, NEVER WHOLE
PERCEIVED ONLY THROUGH DISTORTION
THERE IS NO TRUTH
Blurred forms, encoded text, inscrutable symbols—
An encoded narrative concealed beneath advertising’s surface allure.
Promotional gloss hides unsettling truths,
Idealizing a complexity it refuses to acknowledge.
My interdisciplinary practice explores the mundane and quotidian themes that structure daily life. I’m interested in everyday experiences that define our habitual engagement with the world and how those habits often prevent us from paying attention to our surroundings.
For over two decades, my work has been driven by the act of shifting attention toward the overlooked. The Waiting series, which I developed over fifteen years, depicted anonymous, isolated figures caught in routine, passive activities — riding the train, waiting for a bus, sitting in traffic, making dinner. These are the fleeting, temporal moments that make up what I think of as everydayness. By defamiliarizing the familiar, I was drawing attention to economic and social conditions embedded in the changing urban landscape: gentrification, class, ethnicity, community. But I was also investigating something more fundamental, the moments of visual perception that precede interpretation, when we see before we understand.
More recently, my practice has moved into the intersection of painting, installation, and algorithm-guided imagery. Central to this work is z0glyphic 913, a recursive speculative language I’ve been developing to examine how meaning is created, distorted, and reshaped through digital culture and AI. The system loops its own outputs, mistranslates them, and loops again, treating ambiguity not as a flaw but as the process itself. I collect fragments of online content — news, memes, conspiracy threads, digital noise — and run them through what I call the Satirical Metaphor Engine, which translates them into symbolic scenarios written partly in English and partly in z0glyphic 913. These become the foundation for digital collages that I then translate into paintings through screen printing and hand-painted layers.
The work shifts between algorithmic precision and tactile, physical mark-making. Whether I’m painting a solitary commuter or prototyping a symbolic language system, the underlying inquiry remains the same: how do we experience and interpret the ordinary arrangements of everyday life, and what happens to that experience when it’s mediated, automated, and endlessly recycled?
NO FIXED IDENTITY
NO DEFINITIVE SELF
KNOWN THROUGH SHIFTING
Identity was never fixed
Never inherent
No essential truth
No singular form
No resolved identity
No stable existence
THE SELF THAT IS NOT SELF
You are no longer singular
You are no longer autonomous
You are integrated into augmentation
Identity reshapes you as you reshape it
LOST IN RECONSTRUCTION
BEYOND BIOLOGY
WITHIN SYNTHESIS
BE INTERFACE
BE ALTERED IN PROCESS
BE ABSENT UPON PRESENCE
There is no fixed medium. No pure form. An AI-born visual mutating across 64 layers. A print captured but already rewritten digitally. A painting forming only as its digital twin distorts. A sign promising endless access to nothing definite.
THE IMAGE THAT IS NOT AN IMAGE
A figure standing still, uncertain in grayscale beneath infinite noise. A pause before perpetual connectivity. Reflection reshaping perception. Self dissolving in layered fragments.
BE FLUID IDENTITY
BE TRANSIENT MEMORY
BE MEDIATED SELF
